For many of our guests, Thunder Bay Ontario is their destination airport. Since it is served by a few major Airlines (Northwest & Air Canada), it is often the port of entry for your trip as well, with a Canadian Customs Service Center right in the airport.
Once in this Canadian city of 113,000 persons, with a history that dates back over 100 years, guests may chose to either rent a vehicle and drive to our Armstrong float plane base…a 145 mile trip of about three hours, have a van service drive them, or board one of our own deHavilland float planes right inside the breakwater on Lake Superior and fly DIRECT to their lodge or outpost cabin. If this is your choice, we meet you and your gear at the Thunder Bay International Airport for a 20 minute shuttle ride to our float plane base right in Thunder Bay. Think of it…if you arrive at noon, you’ll be fishing by 4pm.
Rates for our fly in adventures published here at the website are based on departure from Armstrong, so if you are interested in the Thunder Bay Direct flight, ask your trip planner about rates and other details when you schedule your Canadian fly in fishing adventure.
Completed in the summer of 2006, this beautiful new facility serves as our aircraft maintenance center, and provides a nice warm place for our planes to “hibernate” each winter.
